In one of many twists on the genre, the disease-which quickly spreads to all the other animal species-also inspires rather explicit lust as well as murderous rages. Lesley manages to ferret out the details of the story, while Terry discovers that his death-tinged aura is largely a product of his own anxiety. When a secretive plot to develop a bioweapon to disrupt the food chain goes awry, the motley crew must get nimble to unravel the story, outrace the predators and escape the island. To jump-start the lurching plot, Logan introduces ineffectual journalist Lesley McBrien, who is competing both with her nemesis Colin Drummond and the reputation of her war correspondent father. Even sadder is slaughterhouse veteran Terry Borders, who believes the stench of death upon him is driving away the ladies. Much of this Glasgow-based tale is seen through the eyes of British teen Geldof Peters, a boy saddled not only with the world’s most awkward given name, but also vegan hippie parents who foist things like hemp clothing upon him. He is, however, quite deliberate in the creation of his deeply disturbed cast.

Scottish journalist Logan stays rather deadpan in his absurdist debut, even as the animals on which we depend turn the tables on us. The Age of Apocalypse Havok is a good showcase for how bad things could have gotten for his relationship with his brother and highlights the importance of good influences on him.“Two legs bad,” might be the borrowed motto of the titular monsters of this apocalyptic look at the end of the world-were the great beasts not busy trying to kill everybody. The darkness of the world around him encouraged this growth, in contrast to the Earth-616 Havok whose tenure with the Hellions stemmed from an attempt to control his darker side. The Earth-295 Havok would rather jump to lethal measures, attacking his brother and attempting to bring him down by any means necessary. Although they're still prone to fighting and frequently get under one another's skin, they're still able to talk through their problems. This is a far cry from Earth-616, where Havok and Cyclops often work to overcome their differences. His approach to the sibling rivalry is filled with insults and attacks, with Havok lashing out even before his brother's actions are revealed. But in the Age of Apocalypse Havok takes the worst of both elements and combines them to make a truly vicious variant. He's also always had something of a dark side, which has come to the forefront in the core Marvel Universe more than once. In most timelines, Havok has had to contend with the large shadow cast by Cyclops. The brutality of the Age of Apocalypse timeline adds a lot of dark depth to the typical relationship between Scott and Alex Summers. It was a brutal ending to their sibling rivalry, one that would later be up-ended by the eventually villainous Weapon X resurrecting them as his agents before the entire timeline was finally wiped out. Havok only had a moment to gloat before he was killed by Weapon X.

While Cyclops nominally remained focused on his work as a Prelate, Havok indulged in his vices.Įventually, Cyclops' began helping prisoners escape captivity, giving Havok all the reason he needed to turn against him the "traitor." When Cyclops worked with Jean Grey to lead a full revolt of the prisoners, Havok decided to settle the rivalry once and for all by ambushing the pair and seemingly killing them. His darker traits became more pronounced, and Alex Summers became a vicious and cruel man. While Cyclops slowly bristled against their dark work, Havok flourished. Serving as one of Apocalypses' chief lieutenants, Sinister's station allowed his adopted sons to find fruitful positions in Apocalypses' regime. In this timeline, Scott and Alex were raised by Mister Sinister from a young age. But on Earth-295, many traditional mutant relationships were radically changed. In most timelines, Cyclops was a founding member of the X-Men, eventually finding his brother while Alex is graduating from college and setting him on his own heroic path.
